In the past, dental restorations could be done only with metal. Although it is efficient, metal restorations give the teeth a dark color. Today, dentistry uses resins and porcelains. Both materials are extremely versatile because they can be tailored to the exact shade of natural teeth, providing the perfect aesthetic solution.
Who does not love a good laugh?
It is primarily these moments that the posterior teeth are evident, revealing the state of a person's mouth. For many, the occasion is not funny, because what we discover are dark spots, caused by old dental restorations. The solution is to replace them with modern materials.
Today, the patient may choose to use resin or porcelain. To determine which of them should be used, the dentist evaluates the peculiarities of each case, since the materials have different characteristics. For placement of porcelain, for example, a mold is taken of the tooth after being worked on.
Based on this model, the new dental restoration prosthetic is manufactured. During this period, the person uses a provisional acrylic replacement. One of the benefits of these techniques is that the color is obtained by the tone of your natural teeth.
"This effect is achieved through a careful mapping of colors and shades of the tooth. Both the porcelain and resin are applied according to this map, offering very beautiful effect”, says Dr. Esther Klein.
Check out what material is best suited for each case.
